Install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on a stand-alone computer

Software requirements
The Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 installation and configuration wizard marshals many components.
Caution: If you uninstall Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, and then later install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on the same computer, the Setup program could fail when creating the configuration database, which would cause the entire installation process to fail. You can prevent this failure by deleting the existing configuration database or by using the psconfig command to create a new configuration database.

DATABASE
When you perform a Basic installation, Windows Internal Database is automatically installed.
But for the advanced option one make sure that MS SQL Server 2005 is installed in the system.

Beginning the Installation
  1. Insert the Windows Server 2003 CD in the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Restart the computer. If prompted, press any key to boot from the CD
  3. On the Welcome to Setup screen, press Enter.
  4. Review and, if acceptable, agree to the license agreement by pressing F8.
  5. Follow the instructions to delete all existing disk partitions. The exact steps will differ based on the number and type of partitions already on the computer. Continue to delete partitions until all disk space is labeled as Unpartitioned space.
  6. When all disk space is labeled as Unpartitioned space, press C to create a partition in the unpartitioned space on the first disk drive (as applicable).
  7. If your server has a single disk drive, split the available disk space in half to create two equal-sized partitions. Delete the total space default value. Type the value of half your total disk space at the Create partition of size (in MB) prompt, and the press Enter. (If your server has two disk drives, type the total size of the first drive at this prompt.)
  8. After the New <Raw> partition is created, press Enter
  9. Select Format the partition using the NTFS file system <Quick>, and then press Enter.

Completing the Installation
  1. The Windows Server 2003 Setup Wizard detects and installs devices. This can take several minutes, and during the process your screen may flicker.
  2. In the Regional and Language Options dialog box, make changes required for your locale (typically, none are required for the United States), and then click Next.
  3. In the Personalize Your Software dialog, type amit sajwan in the Name box and type Reskit in the Organization box. Click Next.
  4. Type the Product Key (found on the back of your Windows Server 2003 CD case) in the text boxes provided, and then click Next.
  5. In the Licensing Modes dialog box, select the appropriate licensing mode for your organization, and then click Next
  6. In the Computer Name and Administrator Password dialog box, type the new computer name KAIRAUS in the computer name box, and then click Next
  7. When prompted by Windows Setup, click Yes to confirm a blank Administrator password.
  8. In the Date and Time Settings dialog box, correct the current date and time if necessary, and then click Next
  9. In the Networking Settings dialog box, make sure Typical Settings is selected, and then click Next
  10. In the Workgroups or Computer Domain dialog box (No is selected by default), click Next.
  11. The server restarts and the operating system loads from the hard drive.

Configuring Your Server as a DHCP Server

To install DHCP using the Windows Server 2003 Manage Your Server wizard
  1. Within the Manager Your Server page, click Add or remove a role.
  2. After the Configure Your Server wizard appears, click Next.
  3. Click Custom configuration, and then click Next.
  4. Under Server Role, click DHCP server, and then click Next.
  5. Review the Summary of Selections, and then click Next to begin the installation
  6. When the New Scope Wizard appears, click Next to define a DHCP scope.
  7. For Name, type Kairaus HQ. Leave the description blank, and then click Next.
  8. Enter a Start IP address of 192.168.1.1and enter 192.168.1.256for the End IP address. Click Next.
  9. Exclusions will not be defined at this time. Click Next to continue the installation.
  10. To accept the default Lease Duration, click Next.
  11. To set DHCP Options, click Next.
  12. On the Router (Default Gateway) screen, type 192.168.1.1for IP address, click Add, and then click Next.
  13. For Parent Domain on the Domain Name and DNS Server screen, type kairaus.com. For IP address, type 10.0.0.2, click Add, and then click Next.
  14. Click Next as WINS Servers will not be utilized in this environment.
  15. Click Next to Activate Scope
  16. Click Finish twice
  17. Close the Manage Your Server screen


Configuring Your Server as a Domain Controller

To install DNS and Active Directory using the manual tools
  1. Click the Start button, click Run, type DCPROMO, and then click OK.
  2. When the Active Directory Installation Wizard appears, click Next to begin the installation.
  3. After reviewing the Operating System Compatibility information, click Next.
  4. Select Domain controller for a new domain (default), and then click Next.
  5. Select Domain in a new forest (default), and then click Next.
  6. For Full DNS name, type KAIRAUS.com, and then click Next.
  7. Click Next to accept the default Domain NetBIOS name of KAIRAUS. (NetBIOS names provides for down-level compatibility.)
  8. On the Database and Log Folders screen, point the Active Directory Log Folder to L:\Windows\NTDS, and then click Next to continue.
  9. Leave the default folder location for Shared System Volume, and then click Next.
  10. On the DNS Registration Diagnostics screen, click Install and configure the DNS server on this computer. Click Next to continue.
  11. Select Permissions compatible only with Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 (default), and then click Next.
  12. Type password for Restore Mode Password and Confirm password, and then click Next to continue.
  13. Click Next to start the installation of Active Directory. If prompted, insert the Windows Server 2003 installation CD.
  14. Click OK to acknowledge the warning of having a dynamically assigned IP address for a DNS server.
  15. If you have more than one network interface, select the 192.168.1.0network interface from the Choose Connection drop-down list, and then click Properties
  16. Under the This connection uses the following items section, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties.
  17. Select Use the following IP address, and then type 192.168.1.2 for the IP address. Press the Tab key twice, and then type 192.168.1.1for the Default gateway. Type 192.168.1.3for the Preferred DNS server, and then click OK. Click Close to continue.
  18. Click Finish once the Active Directory Installation Wizard is finished
  19. Click Restart Now to reboot the computer.

To authorize the DHCP server
  1. After the computer reboots, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and log on to the server as administrator@kairaus.com. Leave the password blank.
  2. Click the Start menu, select Administrative Tools, and then click DHCP
  3. Click hq.kairaus.com. Right click hq.kairaus.com and then click Authorize
  4. Close the DHCP management console

Populating Active Directory

Creating Organizational Units and Groups
  1. Click the Start button, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers
  2. Click the + next to kairaus.com to expand it. Click contoso.com itself to show its contents in the right pane.
  3. In the left pane, right-click kairaus.com , point to New, and then click Organizational Unit.
  4. Type Accounts in the name box, and then click OK.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to create the Groups and Resources OUs.
  6. Click Accounts in the left pane. Its contents now display in the right pane. (It is empty at the beginning of this procedure.)
  7. Right-click Accounts, point to New, and then click Organizational Unit.
  8. Type Headquarters, and then click OK.
  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to create the Production and Marketing OUs in Accounts. When you have finished, the OU structure should look like Figure 5.
  10. In the same way, create Desktops, Laptops, and Servers in the Resources OU.
  11. Create the two security groups by right-clicking Groups, pointing to New, and then clicking Group. The two groups to add are Management and Non-management. The settings for each group should be Global and Security. Click OK to create each group. When all steps are completed.


Creating User Accounts
  1. In the left-hand pane, click Headquarters (in Accounts).. Its contents now display in the right pane. (It is empty at the beginning of this procedure.)
  2. Right-click Headquarters, point to New, and then click User.
  3. Type Sajwan for the first name and amit for the last name. (Note that the full name automatically appears in the Full name box)
  4. Type amit for the User logon name.
  5. Click Next
  6. Type pass#word1 for Password and Confirm password, and then click Next to continue.
  7. Click Finish. amit sajwan now displays in the right-hand pane as a user under Reskit.com/Accounts/Headquarters
  8. Repeat steps 2 through 7, adding the names
  9. Repeat steps 1 through 8 to create the users in the Production and Marketing OUs.


Adding Users to Security Groups
  1. In the left pane, click Groups.
  2. In the right pane, double-click the Management group.
  3. Click the Members tab, and then click Add.
  4. Click Advanced, and then click Find Now.
  5. Select all appropriate users from the lower section by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking each name. Click OK while all members are highlighted. (The users who should be members of this security group are listed in Appendix A.) Click OK again to add these members to the Management Security Group. Click OK to close the Management Security Group Properties sheet.
  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 to add members to the Non-management group.
  7. Close the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.



Configure the server as a Web server

Install and configure IIS
  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Configure Your Server Wizard.
  2. On the Welcome to the Configure Your Server Wizard page, click Next.
  3. On the Preliminary Steps page, click Next.
  4. On the Server Role page, click Application server (IIS, ASP.NET), and then click Next.
  5. On the Application Server Options page, click Next.
  6. On the Summary of Selections page, click Next
  7. Click Finish.
  8. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  9. In the IIS Manager tree, click the plus sign (+) next to the server name, right-click the Web Sites folder, and then click Properties.
  10. In the Web Sites Properties dialog box, click the Service tab.
  11. In the Isolation mode section, clear the Run WWW service in IIS 5.0 isolation mode check box, and then click OK.

Install the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
  1. From the Microsoft Download Center Web Site, on the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86) page, click Download, and then click Run to install dotnetfx.exe.
  2. On the Welcome to Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Setup page, click Next.
  3. On the End-User License Agreement page, read the license agreement, select the I accept the terms of the License Agreement check box, and then click Install.
  4.    On the Setup Complete page, click Finish.

Verify that Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 is Enabled in IIS
  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2. In Internet Information Services Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to the server name, and then click the Web Service Extensions folder.
  3. In the Web Service Extensions pane, verify that ASP.NET v2.0.50727 is allowed

Configure IIS for ASP.NET 2.0

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2.  In IIS Manager, locate the Web site you want to configure to use ASP.NET version 2.0.
  3. Right-click the Web site, and then click Properties
  4. Right-click the Web site, and then click Properties
  5. On the ASP.NET tab, in the ASP.NET version box, select 2.0.50727.
  6. Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart IIS
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2.  In the Open box, type cmd.exe, and then click OK.
  3.  At the command prompt, type iisreset.exe, and then press ENTER.
  4. Type exit, and then press ENTER to exit Command Prompt.

Download and Install the .NET Framework 3.0
  1. From the Microsoft Download Center Web Site on the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.0 Redistributable Package (x86) page, click Download, and then click Run to install dotnetfx3setup.exe.
  2.  On the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Setup page select the I have read and ACCEPT the terms of the License Agreement radio button, and then click Install.
  3.   Click the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Setup balloon.
  4. On the Setup Complete page click Exit.

Install Windows SharePoint Services with Windows Internal Database
When you install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on a single server, run the Setup program using the Basic option. This option uses the Setup program's default parameters to install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Windows Internal Database. Windows Internal Database uses SQL Server technology as a relational data store for Windows roles and features only, such as Windows SharePoint Services, Active Directory Rights Management Services, UDDI Services, Windows Server Update Services, and Windows System Resources Manager.
Note: If you uninstall Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, and then later install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on the same computer, the Setup program could fail when creating the configuration database causing the entire installation process to fail. You can prevent this failure by either deleting all the existing Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 databases on the computer or by creating a new configuration database. You can create a new configuration database by running the following command: psconfig -cmd configdb -create -database <uniquename>

Run Setup
  1. From the product download, run SharePoint.exe.
  2. Click I accept the terms of this agreement, and then click Continue
  3.   Click Basic.
  4. When the installer has completed, click Close.
  5.   On the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard page, click Next.
  6. On the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard dialog, click Yes.
  7. When the Configuration Successful screen appears, click Finish

Post-installation steps

Configure incoming e-mail settings 
You can configure incoming e-mail settings so that SharePoint sites accept and archive incoming e-mail. You can also configure incoming e-mail settings so that SharePoint sites can archive e-mail discussions as they happen, save e-mailed documents, and show e-mailed meetings on site calendars. In addition, you can configure the SharePoint Directory Management Service to provide support for e-mail distribution list creation and management.

Start the Windows SharePoint Services Web Application service
  1. On the top navigation bar, click Operations.
  2. On the Operations page, in the Topology and Services section, click Services on server.
  3. On the Services on Server page, find Windows SharePoint Services Web Application in the list of services, and click Start.

Install the SMTP service
  1. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. In Add or Remove Programs, click Add/Remove Windows Components.
  3. In the Windows Components Wizard, in the Components box, click Application Server, and then click the Details button.
  4. In the Application Server dialog box, in the Subcomponents of Application Server box, click Internet Information Services (IIS), and then click the Details button.
  5. In the Internet Information Services (IIS) dialog box, select the SMTP Service check box
  6. Click OK to return to the Application Server dialog box.
  7. Click OK to return to the main page of the Windows Components Wizard.
  8. Click Next.
  9. When Windows has finished installing the SMTP service, on the Completing the Windows Components Wizard page, click Finish.


Configure the SMTP service
  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2. In IIS Manager, expand the server name that contains the SMTP server that you want to configure.
  3. Right-click the SMTP virtual server that you want to configure, and then click Properties.
  4. On the Access tab, under Access control, click Authentication.
  5. In the Authentication dialog box, under Select acceptable authentication methods for this resource, verify that Anonymous access is selected.
  6. Click OK.

Configure Active Directory

Create an organizational unit in Active Directory
  1. Click Start, point to Control Panel, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
  2. In Active Directory Users and Computers, select the folder for the second-level domain that contains your server farm.
  3. Right-click the folder, point to New, and then click Organizational Unit.
  4. Type the name of the organizational unit, and then click OK

Delegate right to the application pool account
  1. In Active Directory Users and Computers, select the organizational unit that you just created
  2. Right-click the organizational unit, and then click Delegate control.
  3. On the Tasks to Delegate page of the Delegation of Control Wizard, select the Create, delete, and manage user accounts check box.
  4. On the next page of the wizard, type the name of the application pool account.
  5. On the last page of the Delegation of Control Wizard, click Finish to exit the wizard.

Add permissions for the application pool account
  1. In Active Directory Users and Computers, click the View menu, and then click Advanced Features
  2. Right-click the organizational unit that you just created, and then click Properties
  3. In the Properties dialog box, click the Security tab, and then click Advanced.
  4. Click Add, and then type the name of the application pool account.
  5. Click OK.

Configure outgoing e-mail settings
Install and configure the SMTP service(install as above)

Configure outgoing e-mail settings
  1. On the top navigation bar of the SharePoint Central Administration Web site, click Operations
  2. On the Operations page, in the Topology and Services section, click Outgoing e-mail settings.
  3. On the Outgoing E-Mail Settings page, in the Mail Settings section, type the SMTP server name for outgoing e-mail (for example, mail.example.com) in the Outbound SMTP server box.
  4. In the From address box, type the e-mail friendly address as you want it to appear to e-mail recipients.
  5. In the Reply-to address box, type the e-mail address to which you want e-mail recipients to reply.
  6. In the Character set menu, select the character set that is appropriate for your language.
  7. Click OK.
